TA E-files

With this circular we launch a new service to TA e-circ
subscribers. We can now supply at modest cost information from an
extensive database held at TA HQ. Not only can you download these
by e-mailing a request but the data can be 'imported' into most
database programs provided the fields are set to appropriate
lengths. This is clearly a step forward as despite the fact the
group are using a wide variety of computers we can now supply files
without all the problems of incompatibility.

The system will work as follows:
Each subscriber will be extended a maximum of 10pds credit.
Periodically renewal notices will be sent by e-mail requesting
payment.
In this way small frequent payments will not need to be made.
Orders should simply quote the file name but the list below also
gives more details of the contents eg to order the list of galaxies
just quote:
"Please supply gal870530."
The last six digits indicate the day the file was last updated so
you can check on whether new editions are available.
The system starts today with just three files but will be expanded
into a very comprehensive system in the coming months. Some files
will be available in paper version but it is likely e-circ
subscribers will always have the most up to date version.
List of new files will appear in these circulars and periodically a
complete listing will be given.
Please send ideas and comments to help improve and extend this
service so we can cater for your needs.

E-files available at 1987 June 30.
