NSV 6708

This star was rediscovered by Dawes on patrol photos of 1986 July 5
and is located at: RA 14h31m41s DEC -39 20'13"(1950). The
magnitude was then 7.5 although the NSV gives only a maximum of
9.7pmg and range 0.8mag.

Research by McNaught showed a range of 7.5-15.5 with a brightening
from 1985 June at approx mag 11 to 7.5 by 1986 January. (IBVS 2928)
Later estimates to 1986 July showed the star at 7.3-7.7.

Rob McNaught has e-mailed that the star is now fading according to
observations by P.Williams, heathcote, NSW:
1987 June 30.40UT, 7.5; July 8.41, 7.8; 9.40, 7.8; 12.49, 8.0,
13.48, 8.4. McNaught estimated 9.0 on July 14.39UT and suggests the
star is a possible R CrB variable.

SIX NEW VARIABLES IN SGR

Campos and Sanchez, Mexico have announced discovery of six new
variables as follows:

RA (2000) DEC (2000) approx mag

18h40m26s -29 06'06" 11
18 18 37 -36 23 09 11
18 28 04 -33 21 23 8
18 20 09 -32 12 49 10
18 10 18 -21 04 29 12
18 18 43 -28 04 02 11

The nature of these variables is not known and analysis of patrol
photos of this region would be useful. (IBVS 3030)
