A new chart and sequence have been drawn using a photo by D.Buczynski of Dec 1 when the star was recorded at 14.6, brighter than the catalogued minimum of 15.7B. The Editor notes that the star is at approx mag 13.7 on Atlas Stellarum (1968 Mar 28). The new chart can be sent on e-mail request. W.Wenzel, Sonneberg, reported on this star in MVS 10(3), 1984. From analysis of 807 plates he suggests a cycle length of 400-500d for major outbursts but comments that there are possible variations at minimum with the star sometimes rising to 14.5 (which may be the case on the latest photo by D.Buczynski). NEW RED VARIABLE STAR M.Kun, Konkoly Observatory, reports the discovery of a new red variable during a survey of H-alpha emission stars near Trumpler 37 and has derived the following position: RA 21h40m56s DEC +57 06'29"(1950). Magnitude estimates (V): 1968 June 28, 17.0; 1985 Oct 20, 18.0; 1986 June 16, 15.5; Sept 14, 15.0. It is probable that the new variable is of Mira type. IBVS 3106. OBJECT NEAR M27=Q1987/61 Rob McNaught relays a note from Gordon Garradd who has found a possible variable star almost due south of the central star of M27 and located at: RA 19h57m00s DEC +22 33.0' (1950). The star, of approx mag 14, was recorded on only one photo of 1987 April 6 taken with a 15cm f4.5, 700mm FL on K2415. However Garradd comments that under high magnification the star looks genuine. A nearby star is shown on the cover photo by G.Johnstone (Nov TA) taken on 1987 Sept 24 and is located 115mm from the RH edge and 50.9mm from the bottom. The suspect, not shown, would be 1.2mm to the right and 0.3mm up. The Editor estimates that the star is (15.5 on the Johnstone photo and is also not recorded on an exposure by Manning of 1986 Sept 28 to mag 16.0.Could photogaphers please e-mail details of any pictures of M27 to mag 14.0 or fainter taken 1986 to date.
