The group at RA 6h20m DEC +25 11'(2000) was first seen on 1986 Dec 6 when it was noted as quadruple, A=7.5, B=9, and two stars of magnitude 11 & 12. The four were seen again on 1986 Dec 20 and measured: Sturdy 1986.95 Cat 2000II AB 265.5deg Sep 56.13" 264deg 58" 1874-1924 A, mag 11 296 deg 23.11" No mag 11 mentioned A, mag 12='a' 300 deg 40+/-" 290deg 41" 1911 (a=12.4) On 1988 Jan 10 Sturdy found A, mag 12='a' 291 40.4" but no mag 11 seen! Subsequent checks have failed to show the fourth star. The Editor identifies the group as: A=SAO 078251 6h17m31s DEC +25 12'44"(1950) 7.3v B 078248 6 17 27 +25 12 38 9.0v No candidate can be found in GCVS or NSV. Sturdy notes the star was not a ghost being seen at x40,x72 and measuring powers 256 and 400. An asteroid is ruled out by observation on 1986 Dec 6-20 at the same position. It appears to be a hitherto uncatalogued variable although as the field is in the Milky Way a faint nova is not precluded. Any past or further observations of this group should be reported to the Editor.
