IAUC 4555 The component is V635 Cas which is located at: RA 1h15m14s DEC +63 28.6'(1950). The known optical range is 14.5-16.3V. A photograph of this area would be very useful so that this object can be charted for future study and to determine the current pv value. 3C 273 & 3C 279 E.I.Robson, Lancashire Polytechnic, suggests in IAUC 4556 that these two objects are brighter than normal in the infrared. Observers are urged to check whether they have brightened in V. The coordinates and catalogued ranges follow: 3C 273 12h26.6m +02 19'42"(1950) 12.4-13.15B (normally 12.7v) 3C 279 12 53.6 -05 31 08 (1950) 15.3-18.15B Please e-mail any recent results. COMET WILSON (1986l)- SPLIT OF NUCLEUS S.M.Larson, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, writes that broad, red-band CCD images on Feb 23 confirm that the nucleus of this comet has split. J.V.Scotti reports that on Feb 13.27UT the main nucleus was of m2=17.7 with a secondary of 19.6, 8.4" in pa 117deg. IAUC 4555 S PERSEI R.E.Stencel, University of Colorado, writes that this red variable has recently brightened with observers reporting it reaching 9.2 by Feb 22. IAUC 4556 The GCVS gives type SRC and range 7.9-12.0V. The variable is located: RA 02h19m15s DEC +58 21.6'(1950) and is on the BAAVSS main programme. A chart is available from the Editor on e-mail request. Guy M Hurst
