TA E-CIRCULAR 131
As a result of a direct relay of a message received from Australia
the normal format of our circulars was corrupted in the case of
E-131. The text is retransmitted below for the sake of completeness
but Rob McNaught advised us at the last moment that revised
predictions showed the event would not be visible from the UK.

OCCULTATION OF AGK3 +06 1290 BY 10 HYGIEA ON March 8.0253UT
Rob McNaught e-mails:
"This occultation has been predicted by the Lowell group. Details
as follows:
Star m 10.7  RA 10h11m14.192 Dec +06d19'15".30 (1950)
Ast  m 10.5  diam 443 km
Max duration 36 secs.  Istar/(Istar+Iast)=0.45 (approx 0.6mag
drop?)
Although not an easy occultation, the nominal path crosses the
whole of Ireland, Wales, Southern England, Belgium, France, Italy
and Greece.
Should any UK astrometrist be interested the following ephemeris is
provided:
March 5.0UT  RA 10h13m29.86 Dec +06d07'30.2  (1950)
March 7.0       10 11 59.34     +06 15 20.6
Astrometry should be done on both the asteroid and the star to be
occulted. The star to be occulted should NOT be used in the
reduction. E-mail astrometry to me and I shall reply e-mail with
the update, in addition to passing the measures on to Bob Millis,
the chairman of IAU Commission 20 Working Group on Occultations."

SUPERNOVA 1988H IN NGC 5878
A.V.Filippenko et al, University of California report that a
spectrogram shows this supernova to be a type-II, probably a few
weeks past maximum.                              IAUC 4561

V635 CAS
The possible optical outburst of this object was mentioned on
E-128. G.Henson et al, Pine Mountain Observatory, University of
Oregon, have reported that the object has brightened from V=14.3 on
1987 Nov 22 to V=13.5 on 1988 Feb 27. This star is in URGENT need
of attention and I would be grateful if photographs of the field
could be sent to me as soon as possible. IAUC 4561

SUPERNOVA 1988G IN ANON GALAXY
The offsets of this object given on E-132 have been revised. For
6.7"E read 6.7" W.                               IAUC 4561

COMET MAURY-PHINNEY (1988c)
Improved orbital elements:
T=1987 Dec 26.792 ET                   Peri= 346.834
                                       Node= 146.821 1950.0
q=1.93055 AU                           Incl=  93.163
The object is currently fading below mag 18. IAUC 4562
