Subsequently the negatives have arrived from Martin Mobberley but it is apparent that the image characteristics of the suspect differ from that of 16 Vul making a reliable estimate very difficult. Further analysis is being undertaken. F.Makino has also refined the position of the x-ray nova to: RA 20h 01.1m DEC +25.1 degrees (1950) with an error box of +/- 1m RA and +/- 0.1 degrees. (IAUC 4588) Please continue to monitor the area for variation of any field star in or near the error box. "DUBBS" a BULLETIN BOARD FOR ASTRONOMERS (Announcement by David Moore) ------------- A computer based Bulletin Board System (BBS) would be a FANTASTIC facility for observers to keep in touch, REPORTING and DISCUSSING observations amongst each other on a REGULAR basis. DUBBS is such a system based in Dublin, Ireland (free membership to International callers). It has had an active Astronomy section since February 1987. It runs on a Commodore Amiga 2000, 2 Mb RAM, 61 Mb disk, 300 to 2400 bps modems, 24 hours a day. Over 1,000 files and 1,600 messages are held online. Call 0001 885634 (from UK). Download any of the 100+ astro-related files. Upload any you think would be of interest to others. START REPORTING observations REGULARLY on DUBBS and keep in touch with others doing likewise. This forum has ENORMOUS potential but we must ALL put in the initial effort if it is to realise its full potential. Reporting observations in this way is FAR EASIER than pen, paper and 'snail mail'. Also, reports are to a LARGE audience and not just a single, co-ordinating person. One effectively PUBLISHES each observation made! DUBBS is run by David Moore B.Sc. (MicroLink MAG32230), Irish Astronomical Society. An article for TA magazine is being prepared. ---------- Guy M Hurst
