THE ASTRONOMER Electronic Circular No 172 1988 June 19 19.06UT. Telecom Gold 72:MAG60138 Ed:Guy M Hurst, 16, Westminster Close, Kempshott Rise, Basingstoke, Hants, RG22 4PP, England. Telephone:(0256)471074.Int:+44256471074 Telex:265871(MONREF G) Quote"72:MAG60138 ATT G.HURST"in FIRST line. ------------------------------------------------------------------- T LEONIS Further to the appeal on E-159, P.Schmeer, J.Isles and the editor all agree that the sequence adopted from the AAVSO is seriously in error with some comparisons more than 1.5 magnitudes adrift. Using photographs by D.Buczynski for transfer from RZ Leonis and visual estimates by Isles, a new sequence has been derived and new 'B' and 'C' charts are now available from T Leo under revision 880619. Based on the revised comparison star magnitudes the recent maximum may have been as faint as 11.0. It is interesting to note that maxima derived by W.Wenzel in MVS 10(3),1984 have the star reaching 11.0-11.5pg 1945-1983 and presumably the colour index is small. ELECTRONICS IN ASTRONOMY We have received a request for help in preparing a lecture on the above subject from Peter Holmes of Knaresborough. If anyone could help in this subject please e-mail the Editor. COMPUNET The Astronomer now has its own bulletin board on COMPUNET. Goto page 372694 for further details. Messages can be sent to GMH4 but urgent ones should be sent on MICROLINK as COMPUNET may only be checked weekly. If anyone is already on COMPUNET please send me your mailbox number. Guy M Hurst
