this evening.

POSSIBLE SPLIT IN SOUTHERN MARSIAN POLARCAP

Swedish am.observers Jens and Mattias Ergon reports observing a possible
split in the southern marsian polarcap. A tiny white piece to the
south east of the main cap was seen seperated by a narrow dark band at
high mag. using a 10" f/7 reflector. The pos. split was not observed Aug.
10 when also Jorgen Danielsson joined at Eketorp in the southern part
of the island Oland in the southeast of Sweden.

The area has had good observing conditions for more than a week now
after a rainperiod. Obs.cond on the 11th was reported to be very good
in the morning hours. Obs. made aprox. 03.UT. Has any one else made
similar observations?

I will be away from tomorrow morning until Sunday, but Guy will
be back on Saturday , so any urgent reports need sending tonight
if possible.
