He notes that a star he designates 'A' was about one magnitude fainter than a star assigned 'B' whereas the atlas shows dot sizes indicating the reverse. The Editor identifies these objects with the following SAOC data: A=056142 RA 3h02m13s DEC +39 27'36" (1950) mv=7.5; mpg=9.1; Sp=KO B=056176 RA 3h04m19s DEC +38 53 44 (1950) mv=7.7; mpg=8.0; Sp=FO CSI has A=8.0v; B=7.8v It is known that dot sizes on some atlases are based on the stars appearance on B plates so this may have caused the discrepancy but further information and observations would be welcomed. Q1988/49 Bob Mizon also draws attention to an object plotted on the same atlas as a magnitude 6 double which is actually the quasar 3C68.1, clearly a much fainter object. SAO CATALOGUE Jost Jahn, Germany,(MAG40869) e-mails that he now has the SAOC on disk. It consists (ASCII format) of 280,000 stars. In 360KB IBM format it takes 33 disks or 17, in 720KB Atari ST format. He mentions that anyone interested in obtaining copies can contact him. Please e-mail him on MAG40869. URANOMETRIA 2000 Martin Ratcliffe, Armagh Planetarium (83:PTM001) advises that they stock this atlas at a current cost of #37.50 plus #2.25p&p. They are also selling small meteorites and can accept orders by e-mail from members of our group quoting card number, expiry date, full name and address. LA PALMA PROJECT Mark Kidger e-mails via STARLINK that according to Tim Naylor SU UMa, one of the four program stars was in outburst on Nov 26-27. I cannot trace any visual results to this effect. Did anyone observe it at that time? Guy M Hurst
