WX CETI
Further to the note on E257, Rob McNaught e-mails the following
observations for 1988 Nov:
3.43, [15.7; 3.72, [15.3; 7.73, [14.5; 8.47, [15.3; 9.49, [15.0;
9.73, [14.4; 22.66, [13.5; 23.28, [13.0; 26.46, [15.5.
He further reports that Tom Cragg/ whose observation of a maximum
for 1988 Nov 25 appeared in the AAVSO Circular actually saw WW Ceti
(designation 0006-12) and not WX Ceti.
The Editor notes that the designation in the AAVSO Circular of
0111-10 is incorrect as WX Ceti is 0111-18. We are endeavouring to
find out if the other reported maximum for WX Ceti by D.Overbeek is
correct but at present, these results suggest it is unlikely that
the outburst of WX Ceti is correct.

MODEM SETTINGS
Can anyone help with a problem experienced with using the computers
at RGO. When logging in via IPSS occasional characters are missed
in reading and sending. My equipment is the Miracle Technology
Multi-Modem and CBM64. The 'standard' settings work without any
trouble using IPSS to access Telecom Gold but are different
settings needed for the RGO computers?

POSSIBLE ASTEROID= Q1989/12
Brian Manning advises that the asteroid was recorded on the only
exposure secured on Feb 1. Further it was not recorded on several
exposures taken the next night which were centred on (1645)
Waterfield. The motion of the second asteroid should be retrograde
but efforts to recover it have failed and Brian now suspects that
the image may be a flaw.

SN 1989B IN M66
The note on E255 regarding the independent discovery incorrectly
gave the discoverer's name as David Kane. This should read Alan
Kane.
