It is located very approximately 0.5deg south of M65 (note NOT M66). The single exposure was taken with a 0.26-m f5 reflector on hypered Kodak 2415. Could observers please check the area? SUPERNOVA 1989G IN MCG +2-29-11 J. Mueller and C. Brewer report their discovery of a supernova located 18" east and 18" south of the center of MCG +2-29-11 (R.A. = 11h11m12s, Decl. = +9 52'00", equinox 1950.0). The SN appears at mag 20 on the Apr. 5 discovery plate, taken in the course of the Palomar Sky Survey II with the 1.2-m Oschin Schmidt Telescope. On Apr. 7, A. Picard measured Gunn r = 18.1 with the 1.5-m Palomar reflector (+ CCD). A spectrum taken by J. Gunn and B. Oke on Apr. 7 with the Hale 5-m reflector (+ 4-shooter spectrograph) indicates that the object is a type-I supernova 20 days past maximum with high H-alpha (magnitude r = 18.9). The galaxy redshift is 0.027. IAUC 4768 TA INDEX We are delighted to welcome Luigi Rossi of Italy to our group whose mailbox is MAG37184. Martin Ratcliffe advises us that items can be faxed to Armagh Planetarium (83:PTM001) using the following FAX no: 44861526187. Aarre Kellomaki, Finland, has had to cancel his mailbox (MAG40970) due to technical difficulties but we are re-establishing contact via STARLINK. Guy M Hurst
