The SN is at: RA 13h38m42.35s DEC +32 43'50.1"(1950). Magnitudes: Feb 7, B[21; Feb 9 R [19; Mar 11 and 12, B=18.5; May 4, V=21. IAUC 4777 Q1989/31 Paul Davis, Bracknell, reports that he observed a 'new' object of magnitude 15.5v 2'N of the nucleus of M88 (=NGC 4501) on May 6 at 23.45UT with a 0.40-m refl. On May 7 at 22.00UT the object was seen about 1' SE of the galaxy and slightly brighter. According to Brian Marsden there is no known asteroid to account for this. Could anyone with visual or photographic observations of M88 please send these to the Editor as soon as possible. V482 CYGNI Gary Poyner reports that this R CrB star is now brightening: May 6 (23.08UT) 13.4; May 7 (22.50) 13.1 (0.40-m refl). 57.2 0.091 1.010 14.3 IAUC 4776 SN 1989J IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY C.Pollas, Observatoir
