B.A.Smith and S.P.Synnott report that Voyager 2 has recorded a
previously unknown moon of Neptune on 17 frames over 21 days.
The orbit is prograde with period 1.1223 days and mean radial
distance 117,500km. It is one magnitude fainter than Nereid.

E.Helin, Palomar, reports discovery of an asteroid with direct
motion on July 2 at mag 16. Elements by Marsden:

a=3.0593 AU    n=0.18419               P   =  5.35 years IAUC 4807
The object, currently at V=15 is moving rapidly south (July 13,
Dec -33deg) but an ephemeris can be supplied on e-mail request.

MV LYRAE
P.Schmeer (MAG70250) reports that MV Lyr, a nova-like variable, has
brightened to 14.0 on July 6.017UT (0.20-m SCT). It has been
near magnitude 16 since 1987 June.
