JUPITER
A telex has been received from S.Torrell, J.C.Echaniz, B.Lopez
and R.Pratginestos, Barcelona, reporting that their observations
on 1989 July 16 at 03.45UT with a 0.26-m refl. showed that the
SEB of Jupiter had disappeared almost completely.
In response to our alert, Denis Buczynski and R.Moseley, Conder
Brow Observatory checked the planet on July 18 at 02.40UT with a
0.15-m f/19 refractor at x150. They confirmed a major fading of the
SEB at System 1 longitude 138d +-90d. Only a faint and attenuated
belt was visible, probably the SEB(N).
Further reports would be welcomed.

P/COMET LOVAS 1 (1989p)
T.Seki, Japan, has recovered this comet with a 0.60-m refl. on
July 7 at m1=17.5. The correction for Delta(T) against MPC12135
is -0.22day. IAUC 4813
The comet is expected to reach mag 15 in Nov.
