MICROLINK
It is with regret that we advise our user group that the MICROLINK
service is to close at the end of February. It is hoped that we
will not lose any members and detailed guidance as to alternative
systems has today been issued to those on MICROLINK only via our
E-Circulars Nos E479a, E479b, E479c and E479d. For those on JANET
we assume the gateway to MICROLINK will continue to function until
the end of February but cannot guarantee this. We believe the
connection between TELECOM GOLD and MICROLINK has already ceased.

OCCULTATION BY 230 ATHAMANTIS ON 1991 JANUARY 21
We have just received a telephone call advising us that latest
predictions for this event show the expected track has shifted
westwards compared to the details in The Astronomer Vol 27 No 320
page 168 (1990 December). It is now recommended that monitoring
be undertaken by UK observers from 04.13-04.33UT and there is a
possibility the event could be visible from Eastern England.

SUPERNOVA 1991C IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY
J. Mueller reports her discovery of a supernova in an anonymous
galaxy at R.A. = 11h30m06s, Decl. = +5 37'.5 (equinox 1950.0). The
supernova (blue mag about 18), located 5".4 east and 4".7 south of
the galaxy's nucleus, was found on a plate taken Jan. 15 UT by C.
Brewer and J. D. Mendenhall with the 1.2-m Oschin Schmidt Telescope
in the course of the second Palomar Sky Survey.
