COMET SHOEMAKER-LEVY (1991e)
C. S. Shoemaker, E. M. Shoemaker, and D. H. Levy report their
discovery of a comet, with the following positions available:

C. S. Shoemaker, E. M. Shoemaker, and D. H. Levy (Palomar). 0.46-m
Schmidt telescope films. Comet moderately diffuse, with hint of
a tail to the northwest. Measured by J. Mueller.
S. Larson (University of Arizona, Catalina Station). 1.5-m telescope
encoders. Cousins R CCD images show a 1' tail in p.a. 298 deg.

SUPERNOVA 1991D IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY
R. Remillard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; R. Brissenden,
Center for Astrophysics; and J. Halpern and M. Eracleous, Columbia
University, report their discovery, on CCD images obtained on Feb.6
and 7 UT with the 1.3-m McGraw-Hill telescope of Michigan-Dartmouth
MIT Observatory, of an apparent supernova (V about 16.5) in a
Seyfert 1 galaxy located at R.A. = 13h38m31s.8, Decl. = -14 23'32"
(equinox 1950.0; cf. Maza et al. 1989, Ap.J. Suppl. 69, 349).
SN 1991D is offset about 15" east-southeast of the galaxy nucleus,
in what appears to be a faint spiral arm on the Palomar Sky Survey.

SALYUT 7
Patrick Schmeer, Germany, e-mails that he observed the space station
on 1991 Feb 6 from 06h24m58s to 6h26m12sUT from Saarbruecken when it
reached about magnitude -3 and had an altitude of 170 km. He further
informs us that there are two re-entry versions (1991 Feb 7):
03h45mUT over 39.2 deg south, 69.6 deg west (ESOC)
03h44mUT over 34.9 deg south, 63.8 deg west (AP + TASS)
