(4751) ALICEMANNING = 1991 BG
Minor Planet Circular 18144 received today announces the naming of
asteroid 1991 BG which was discovered by Brian Manning on 1991
January 17. The citation reads:
"Named in honor of Alice K.Manning, wife of the discoverer, for her
support and encouragement of the discoverer's hobby over many
years. The attention given to practical details such as warm
clothing on cold nights, and the push needed to persuade him to
finish the construction and fitting of measuring-machine encoders
has contributed greatly to cometary astrometry and success in
discovering minor planets."
The discovery observation appeared on MPC 17707 and in 'The
Astronomer', Vol 27 No 323, p237 (1991). The numbering with
identifications (1991 BG = 1954 SD1 = 1976 PH = 1982 SM5) was
published on MPC 17813.
Brian himself is a long standing subscriber to TA and Gareth
Williams, now Associate Director of CBAT, and who computed the
orbit for this asteroid, is also a subscriber.

Manning.
