Rob H.McNaught, Australia, e-mails that Bob Evans, Hazelbrook,
NSW, Australia, has discovered a possible supernova in NGC 4902
(RA 12h58.3m DEC -14 15',1950). On 1991 May 5.49UT the magnitude
was 13.5-14.0 and offsets from the nucleus are:
12" east, 5" north.
It was not visible to a limit of magnitude 15.5v on 1991 April 20.
A photograph of this galaxy appears in 'The Colour Atlas of
Galaxies' by James D.Wray on page 69.
The Coeli catalogue has the following details for the galaxy:
mpg 11.7, size 2.1'x2.0', type SBb, distance modulus 32.1, Vir.
