Brewer, J. D. Mendenhall, and herself with the Oschin Schmidt Telescope in the course of the second Palomar Sky Survey, of a supernova of mag about 17 in NGC 930 (R.A. = 2h25m.1, Decl. = +20 06', equinox 1950.0). SN 1992bf is located 9".4 east and 10".8 south of the galaxy's centre, and is somewhat embedded in the galaxy nucleus. W. Sargent and T. Small obtained spectra of this object using the 5-m Hale Telescope (+ double spectrograph) on Oct. 20 UT, showing this to be a type-I supernova. IAUC 5642 V419 LYRAE (Q1992/064) A report was received on 1992 Sept 7 via T.Kato that M.Moriyama had observed this UG star in outburst on Sept 3 at mv=13.5. Unfortunately no chart was available at that time but subsequently N.James photographed the field on Sept 23 and identified a possible candidate which is shown in the accompanying e-mail chart. Observers are encouraged to monitor the field and advise the Editor if the proposed identification is correct. \\\\\\V419 Lyr c Identification to be confirmed S,120,10,S P,19h 08.3m +29 01' (1950) -C,19.1706, 29.0911,2000 O,60,60,13.5,[17pv -T,UG? -S,TA921017 R,9.31,53,49,1 R,12.90,56,58,A,B R,13.16,52,60,B R,13.51,50,56,C R,13.59,26,37,D,R R,14.0,57,64,E R,14.8,63,58,F,R M,10,81,96,33,104,92,96,114,7 M,11,16,43,35,70,20,39,24,61,107,18,12,64,10,66 M,11,76,24,106,101,32,17,60,96,81,114 M,12,49,4,38,116,81,64,36,65,118,38,85,21,96,37 M,12,24,53,41,81,98,4,43,80,13,80,101,46,5,66 M,12,89,14 M,13,115,36,31,99,43,23,25,73,47,14,2,118,37,75 M,13,79,116,63,29,54,76,104,96,88,64,25,107,11,27 M,13,85,77,96,12,63,87,27,32,39,39,21,102 M,13,20,104,23,59,44,30,86,100,51,79,108,93 M,13,6,46,60,40,91,51,78,65,15,87,101,29 M,13,59,18,41,71,113,57 M,14,81,68,69,53,18,8 M,14,105,10,11,17,53,78,43,64,40,80,98,7,91,38 M,14,69,53,2,95,115,43 M,15,45,29,112,53,114,63,118,65,111,52,61,63,113,64 E,94 ////// Basic chart automatically generated by GSC2FIND ver 1.2 Guy M Hurst
