**********THE ASTRONOMER THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY MEETING*************
In May of this year, this organisation will have been in existence
for thirty years. I have 'looked after' the group for the last
nineteen years.

To commemorate this anniversary a special meeting will be held on
Saturday 1994 May 28th at St.Mary's Church Hall, Basingstoke.

The principle speaker will be Dr.Gareth Williams, Associate
Director, Minor Planet Center, Smithsonian Astrophysical
Observatory, Cambridge, USA who will talk on the operation of the
MPC.

A full schedule plus details of booking arrangements will be
released shortly. In the meantime we plan to make this a very
special meeting. One important point to consider is the 30th
Anniversary exhibition award.

We ask that any TA subscriber, wherever in the world they are
located, submit three items (maximum) by way of photographs,
drawings, paintings or unusual observational log pages. These
must relate to work carried out at some point during TA's 30 year
history i.e. since 1964 May. It can relate to work already
published by us but new material is also welcomed. Clearly when
this is judged at the meeting we will be looking for some
outstanding items which have unusual or memorable features.

If you will attend the meeting we need only a message detailing
a short description of each of the three items which can then be
brought with you. However if you cannot attend then please send
these to the Editor to reach us by the end of APRIL AT THE LATEST.

We also hope to produce the first-ever TA Handbook to celebrate
this event. This will contain new articles from the world's leading
observers and also some vintage material from older issues which
are no longer in print. Priority sales for this unique publication
will initially be at the meeting itself .

Anne Hurst has kindly agreed to provide the catering and intends
to produce a special anniversary cake for us all to share at the
meeting.

Please make a note in your diaries now for this historic event.
Further details will be released shortly,
