Liller, Instituto Isaac Newton, Vina del Mar, reports his discovery of a possible nova on a pair of Technical Pan films taken of the LMC on Mar. 2.11 UT. The object is located at R.A. = 5h26m.8, Decl. = -70o01' (equinox 2000.0); this is about 3' northeast of a star of mag 7.9. Approximate magnitude estimates for the possible nova: Feb. 25.146, 12.6; Mar. 2.11, 10.7. M. Della Valle and N. Masetti, Department of Astronomy, University of Padua; and S. Benetti, European Southern Observatory (ESO), report: "Preliminary inspection of a fully-reduced CCD spectrogram (range 380-900 nm, resolution about 1 nm), obtained on Mar. 3.03 UT with the ESO New Technology Telescope (+ EMMI), confirms Liller's object to be a nova at or just past maximum light. P. M. Kilmartin and A. C. Gilmore provide a position for this nova, measured from an astrograph film taken at Mount John University Observatory on Mar. 3.4 UT: R.A. = 5h26m50s.33, Decl.= -70o01'23".8 (equinox 2000.0; utilized 8 PPM stars with average residuals 0".3 in both R.A. and Decl.). IAUC 6143/6144 W COM Gary Poyner, Birmingham, UK reports the following observations which indicate that W Com, an object on the Active Galaxies Programme of TA and BAA DSS is brightening: 1995 Jan 1.118UT, 15.1; 9.093, 15.2; Feb 2.006, 15.1; 19.978, 14.6; 21.960, 14.4 All the above results are by Poyner except for the last entry which is by Tonny Vanmunster, Belgium. UW TRI Tonny Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium reports an outburst of UW Tri, which has been confirmed by Eric Broens, Mol, Belgium and Gary Poyner, Birmingham, UK. The object was initially designated Nova Tri 1983 and was found by N.E.Kurochkin, Moscow on Sept 11 of that year when it reached a maximum of mpg=14.7. 1995 Mar 01.815 UT, [15.1 (T. Vanmunster, 0.35-m refl., seq: GSC); Mar 03.819 UT, 14.7 (T. Vanmunster); Mar 03.828 UT, 14.7 (E. Broens, 0.35-m refl., seq: GSC); Mar 03.833 UT, 14.9 (G. Poyner, 0.40-m refl., seq: GSC); (CVC 29 and other data) Nick James, Chelmsford, UK reports a precise position: 1995 Mar 3.8 RA 02h45m17.30s DEC +33 31'26.5"(2000) (0.30-m reflector) This is within 1.5" of the present catalogued position in Downes and Shara which has end figures: RA 17.2s DEC 25.5" Guy M Hurst
