Pollas, Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur, reports his discovery of a supernova of V about 18.0 at: R. A. = 22h27m12s.41, Decl. = -9d29'44".4 (equinox 2000.0), 6".1 west and 2".3 south of the centre of an anonymous galaxy of mpg about 17.4. The object was found on tech pan films obtained by D. Albanese and himself on July 25.09 and 27.05 UT with the 0.9-m Schmidt. Nothing is visible at the location on the Palomar Sky Survey prints down to B = 21 and R = 20. A. V. Filippenko, D. C. Leonard and A. J. Barth, University of California at Berkeley, report that preliminary inspection of uncalibrated CCD spectra (range 310-800 nm, resolution 0.7 nm) obtained on Aug. 1 with the 3-m Shane reflector at the Lick Observatory suggests that the object is a type Ia supernova, probably about 1-2 weeks past maximum brightness. IAUC 6195 J1802.1+1804 A report has appeared on IAUC 6195 from K.P.Singh et.al., Goddard Space Flight Center that a new cataclysmic variable has been discovered which is located at: RA 18h02m06.5s DEC +18 04'43"(2000) The object, of magnitude 15, may be an AM Her-type variable. Photographs/CCD imaging from TA observers are urged and should be sent to the Editor for analysis. SUPERNOVA 1995U IN ESO 235-IG13 B. P. Schmidt, Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatories, reports the discovery of a supernova of mag about 18 by R. H. McNaught on a U.K. Schmidt R film taken by M. J. Drinkwater on July 29.56 UT. SN 1995U is located at: R.A. = 20h54m40s.62, Decl. = -51d22'26".8 (equinox 2000.0) in the galaxy ESO 235-IG13. IAUC 6197 SUPERNOVA 1995V IN NGC 1087 R. O. Evans, Coonabarabran, N.S.W., reports his visual discovery of a supernova in NGC 1087 (R.A. = 2h46m.4, Decl. = -0d30', equinox 2000.0) with the Australian National University 1-m telescope at Siding Spring on Aug. 1.8 UT. An unfiltered CCD image obtained by M. Dopita and C. Trung Hua with the 2.3-m reflector confirms SN 1995V at mag 15.0 and 21" east and 3" south of the centre of the galaxy. It is likely that the object was not present when Evans examined the galaxy on July 25 with a 0.41-m reflector. S. Benetti, European Southern Observatory, reports that inspection of a preliminarily-reduced CCD spectrum (range 396-793 nm, resolution 1 nm) obtained on Aug. 2.40 UT with the Danish 1.54-m telescope + DFOSC at La Silla confirms the object as a type II supernova around maximum.
