Mueller reports her discovery, on a red plate taken by D. Griffith and herself on Aug. 3 UT with the 1.2-m Oschin Schmidt Telescope in the course of the second Palomar Sky Survey, of a supernova (mag about 18) located 10" west and 20" north of the center of UGC 12160 (R.A. = 22h40m.8, Decl. = +75o09', equinox 2000.0). J. Gizis, observing with the Palomar 1.5-telescope (+ CCD direct camera), measured V-I = +1.7 on Aug. 4. IAUC 6211 NOVA CASSIOPEIAE 1995 Osamu Ohshima, Bisei Astronomical Observatory, Okayama, Japan reports that K.Kosaka, Japan has the following pre-discovery CCD images of the nova: 1995 July 29.7, [12.5; 30.7, 12.2;: 31.7, 11.6; Aug 1.7, 11.0; 4.7, 10.4; 5.7, 9.9; 8.7, 9.6; 18.7, 9.8; 22.7, 9.5; 23.7, 9.2. The observer used a 50mm f1.8 lens with ST6 CCD and no filter. Nick James, TA Webmaster, advises that his image of the nova can be found on the TA WWW pages at: http://www.demon.co.uk/astronomer/images/ncas95_950826.jpg V1060 CYGNI Tonny Vanmunster, Belgium reports his detection of an outburst of this UGSS-type dwarf nova on CVC 53. The event was confirmed by Gary Poyner: 1995 Aug 21.927UT, 15.1 (Vanmunster); 21.946UT, 14.9 (Poyner) QY PERSEI Gary Poyner, Birmingham, e-mails that this dwarf nova has recently undergone a faint outburst which was detected initially by Tonny Vanmunster, Belgium: 1995 Aug 21.979UT, 14.1 (Vanmunster); 22.010, 14.8 (Poyner); 22.012, 14.8 (Vanmunster). A more detailed announcement has appeared on CVC 54 (Belgium). V635 CAS Gary Poyner informs us that this optical component of an X-ray source is again bright. His estimates follow (except as indicated): Aug 6.013UT, 15.1; Aug 9.019, 15.0; 15.983, 14.9; 18.072, 14.7; 21.941, 14.7 (Vanmunster); 22.035, 14.7; 23.963, 14.7. V705 CAS (=NOVA CAS 1993) Guy Hurst, Basingstoke, comments that contrary to some reports circulating on the Internet, there is no clear evidence that this nova is fading.
