During the current outburst it is suggested observations are e-mailed to the editor daily so we can collate this information for possible correlation with the X-ray data. V1454 CYGNI (=Q1996/073) Eric Broens, Mol, Belgium, reports in CVC 111 that this variable is in a rare outburst. The brightening has been confirmed by Tonny Vanmunster, also in Belgium: 1996 Oct 7.806UT, 13.6 (Broens, 0.35-m refl. visual) 7.886 14.0 (Vanmunster, 0.25-m +CCD no filter) Tonny adds in CVC 111 that the last recorded outburst in his records was for 1968 Sept 16 and that the current outburst might be the first seen visually. This star is on the Recurrent Objects Programme of the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol which is coordinated by Gary Poyner to whom further results on V1454 Cygni should be sent. Guy M Hurst
