Liller, Vina del Mar, Chile, reports his discovery of an apparent nova (mag 8.5) on a Technical Pan photographs taken with Problicom on June 5.085 and 5.087 UT with an 85-mm camera lens (+ orange filter), located at R.A. = 17h54m.2, Decl. = -30o02'(2000). Nothing brighter than mag 11.5 appears at this location on a photograph taken on June 2.09. CCD magnitude on June 6.120: V = 9.0 (GSC comparison stars). IAUC 6675 SUPERNOVA 1997co IN NGC 5125 The Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO) Supernova Survey reports the discovery of a supernova (mag about 18.2) on an unfiltered CCD frame taken on May 29.7 UT with the BAO 0.6-m reflector, with a confirming image obtained under poor weather conditions on May 31. SN 1997co is located at R.A. = 13h24m01s.18, Decl. = +9o42'22".9 (2000), which is 6".8 east and 14".5 south of the nucleus o NGC 5125. Unfiltered CCD images of the same field taken on May 16 (limiting mag about 19.0) show no star at this position. S.Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, forwards the following position end figures and magnitude from M. Aoki, Tsukioka, Toyama (0.43-m f/6 reflector + CCD; limiting mag 18.5), obtained on May 31.502: 01s.15, 23".2, V = 17.0. IAUC 6672 (extract) SUPERNOVA 1997cp IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY The Mount Stromlo Abell Cluster Supernova Search Team reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (R = 20.3) on V and R CCD images taken on June 2 by S. Sabine at the Mount Stromlo 1.27-m telescope (+ Macho Camera). SN 1997cp is located near Abell 3806 at R.A. = 21h44m36s.50, Decl. = -57o25'30".4 (2000). A nearby star has position end figures 36s.77, 31".9. SN 1997cp was also present on similar frames taken on June 3, but it is not visible on images taken on May 11 (limiting mag R = 21.2). IAUC 6673 (extract) SUPERNOVA 1997cq IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY The McDonald Observatory Supernova Search Team (M. T. Adams, D. A. Howell, M. H. Ward, J. C. Wheeler, and W. Wren) report their discovery of an apparent supernova on three Kron-Cousins R-band CCD images of Abell 2199 (z = 0.0299) taken during June 2.274-2.286 UT with the 0.76-m telescope. SN 1997cq is located at R.A. = 16h29m50s.86, Decl. = +39o45'20".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 39" south of the nucleus of a barred spiral galaxy. Preliminary CCD photometry between June 4.146 and 4.226 yields V = 19.23, B-V = +0.13, V-R = +0.09, V-I = +0.36. SN 1997cq is not visible on R- band images (limiting mag about 21) taken on 1995 July 5, 1996 Mar. 12 and 29, and Oct. 7. IAUC 6674 Guy M Hurst
