The meeting will be held on Saturday October 11 at St.Mary's Church Hall, Basingstoke starting at 11am (finish to be confirmed). An admission charge of L6.00 (6 pounds) covers the day's events and morning coffee and afternoon tea. For an additional L7.00 (7 pounds) a three course cooked luncheon can be provided. The speakers, with provisional talk titles only, are: 'The discovery of Supernova 1996bo': Mark Armstrong 'Bogus Supernovae: Identification, Pleasure and Pain': Michael Schwartz (USA) 'Discovering supernovae and asteroids with a CCD': Stephen Laurie 'Statistics of Dwarf Nova Outbursts': Dr. Robert Smith 'New Automated telescope': Denis Buzynski 'Comet Hale-Bopp' Mark Kidger The meeting, although covering a wide range of topics, has a special theme relating to supernovae and the three speakers talking about supernovae have five such discoveries to their credit, a situation unique at any TA meeting to date.
