The magnitude is 6 and position: RA= 21h 7m 44.694s, DEC=-17deg 27m 20.746s. >From 1997 Nov 11-14 the minimal angular distances of the star from Galilean satellites change from 5 arcs (for Callisto) to 19 arcs (for Europa). The occultation will be seen practically only in USA although close approaches from other places. Accurate differential CCD observations would be very useful for the astrometry of Galilean satellites and Jupiter, and for linking Hipparcos to ICRS.
