Chan at the Mount Stromlo 1.27-m telescope (+ Macho Camera). SN 1997dr is located near Abell 3112 at R.A. = 3h18m49s.21, Decl. = -44o28'13".4 (2000), only 0".5 north and 0".2 east of its host galaxy. A nearby star has position end figures 55s.51, 28".3. SN 1997dr was not visible on similar images taken on Oct. 17 (limiting mag R = 21), but is present in V and R images taken at the Mount Stromlo 0.76-m telescope on Nov. 17, when it appears 0.2 mag brighter. IAUC 6773 (extract) SUPERNOVA 1997ds IN MCG -01-57-007 Y. L. Qiu, Q. Y. Qiao, W. D. Li, and J. Y. Hu, Bejing Astronomical Observatory (BAO); and A. Esamdin, Urumqi Astronomical Station, report their discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 16.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken with a 0.6-m telescope on Nov.19.49UT. SN 1997ds is located at R.A. = 22h24m11s.51, Decl. = -3 29'10".5 (2000), which is 0".9 west and 14".2 south of the centref MCG -01-57-007. The supernova was confirmed on images taken on Nov. 17.47 (mag about 16.2).Unfiltered CCD images of the same field taken on Nov. 4 show no star at this location. IAUC 6773 (extract) SUPERNOVA 1997dt IN NGC 7448 Q. Y. Qiao et.al., (see above) also report the discovery of a supernova (mag about 15.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken with 0.6-m telescope on Nov. 22.44 UT. The supernova is located at R.A. = 23h00m02s.93, Decl. = +15o58'50".9 (2000), which is 9".3 west and 1".0 north of the centre of NGC 7448. SN 1997dt was confirmed on images taken on Nov. 21.48 (mag about 15.4). Unfiltered CCD images of the same field taken on Nov. 14 show no star at the position of the supernova (limiting mag about 18.5). IAUC 6775 (extract) SUPERNOVA 1997du IN ESO 241-G22 J. Maza, Department of Astronomy, University of Chile, reports the discovery of a supernova (B about 18) by Roberto Antezana on a plate taken by L. Gonzalez with the Maksutov telescope at Cerro El Roble on Oct. 30.215 UT. SN 1997du is located at R.A. = 0h10m25s.43, Decl. = -46o29'30".9 (2000), which is 10".5 west and 4".6 north of the nucleus of the host galaxy. The object was confirmed by M. Graham (University of Central Lancashire) on a CCD frame taken at Cerro Tololo under nonphotometric conditions using the 0.9-m telescope on Nov. 1.245 and 3.061 (the supernova being 0.1 mag brighter on the latter date).
