It has come to our attention that one of the files on the TA CD-ROM is infected with a virus. The infected file is called: \ta_web_pages\astronomer\sol.doc This is a Word 6 file which was included on the disk by mistake as part of the "TA web pages" section. The only way that this virus can infect your computer is if you manually open this file. The file is not linked in any way to the web tree on the disk and it does not form part of the TA web pages. If you use a web-browser to access the TA web pages on the disk you are safe. The file will never be encountered unless you manually open it by moving to the directory and searching for it. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MANUALLY OPEN THIS FILE USING MICROSOFT WORD! Virus information The virus is a macro virus called Temple which can spread by infecting the standard Word template. It does nothing but replicate itself and expand the size of the infected Word document. We are in the course of developing version 1.17 and those who have purchased 1.16 may, if they wish, exchange it for the newer version when this becomes available. Please contact Peter Meadows our secretary, to make the arrangements. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Guy M Hurst
