It was recorded during images obtained for the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol using the 0.26-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and CCD (unfiltered exposure). He reports a precise position from the discovery image: RA 22h39m30.26s DEC +08 36'21.3"(2000) Further astrometry at Oct 19.948UT shows no apparent movement. Images obtained by Boles on 1998 Sept 17 to an approximate limit of magnitude 18 do not show the candidate. Mark Armstrong, Rolvenden, England confirmed the new object on an image of 1998 Oct 19.89597UT using a 0.26-m SCT with CCD unfiltered. He continued imaging the field until 23.32UT and astrometry at that time yielded: 1998 Oct 19.98340UT 22h39m30.36s DEC +08 36'21.0" (2000) mag 15.7. The editor has searched against the asteroidal database and finds no known candidates. A further search in A2.0 has again revealed no candidate to magnitude 18. Guy M Hurst
