Cappellaro, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, reports his discovery, on an R CCD frame obtained with the Danish telescope (+ DFOSC) at the European Southern Observatory, La Silla, on Nov. 4.3 UT, of a supernova (R = 17.6) located at R.A. = 4h43m44s.0, Decl. = -5 19'09" (2000), which is 5".8 west and 9".8 south of the nucleus of NGC 1643. IAUC 7304 SUPERNOVA 1999eu IN NGC 1097 S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the discovery by Masakatsu Aoki, Toyama, of a supernova (mag 17.3) on seventeen unfiltered CCD frames taken on Nov. 5 with a 0.40-m f/6 reflector, with confirming frames taken on Nov. 6. Previous frames taken by Aoki in 1996, 1997, and 1998 show nothing at this location (limiting mag 18-19). SN 1999eu is located at R.A. = 2h46m20s.79, Decl. = -30 19'06".1 (2000), which is 23" east and 157" south of the centre of NGC 1097. IAUC 7304 COMET C/1999 V1 (CATALINA) The above designation has been assigned to the comet reported on E1471. Modjaz and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search, report the discovery with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) of an apparent supernova on unfiltered CCD images taken on Nov. 13.5 and 14.5 UT, both showing magnitude about 16.5. SN 1999ew is located at R.A. = 11h26m17s.66, Decl. =+46o58'32".7 (2000), which is 0".3 west and 6".1 north of the nucleus of NGC 3677. A KAIT image of the same field on May 23.3 (limiting mag about 19.0) showed nothing at the position of SN 1999ew. IAUC 7309 DK CAS Further to the announcement on E1471, Jochen Pietz, Germany has reported his independent detection of this outburst: 1999 Nov 27.918UT, 15.0 (Unfiltered CCD observation). Guy M Hurst
