The object has been announced on an IAUC as follows: Guy M. Hurst, Basingstoke, England, reports the discovery by M. Armstrong, Rolvenden, Kent, of an apparent supernova (mag 18) on four CCD patrol images (limiting mag 19-19.5) taken with a 0.30-m reflector in the course of the U.K. Nova/Supernova Patrol on July 29.048-29.108 UT. From a 60-s image obtained on July 29.981, in which the new object still appears at mag 18 (limiting mag 19.5), Armstrong reports the following precise position for SN 2000cz: R.A. = 0h13m58s.19, Decl. = +48o09'14".4 (2000). Nothing appears at this position on four previous images of this galaxy taken by Armstrong on 1999 Nov. 2 (limiting mag 19), and nothing appears on second Palomar Sky Survey red (limiting mag 20.8) and blue (limiting mag 22.5) plates. W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, reports that SN 2000cz also appeared in images taken by the Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope on July 8.5 (mag about 17.7), 17.5 (mag about 17.9), and 27.5 UT (mag about 18.0). From the image on July 27.5, Li also measured the following position end figures for SN 2000cz: 58s.23, 14".2, which is 8".4 east and 14".9 south of the nucleus of IC 1535. IAUC 7470 Subsequently Ron Arbour, who provided confirmation in response to an appeal issued by TA, has advised us his confirming image was obtained on 2000 July 29.89UT. His astrometry gave end figures of RA 58.43s DEC 09.9". Our congratulations on this further success by Mark which is his 12th supernova discovery and the 25th SN found by members of the UK Supernova/Nova Patrol. SUPERNOVA 2000cy IN MCG +3-40-2 T. Puckett, Mountain Town, GA; and D. George, Ottawa, ON, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 19.5) on an unfiltered CCD frame (limiting mag 20.5) taken with the Puckett Observatory 0.60-m automated supernova patrol telescope on July 26.11 UT. SN 2000cy is located at: R.A. = 15h32m14s.75, Decl. = +18o40'22".9 (2000), which is 29".4 west and 5".7 south of the centre of MCG +3-40-2. The new object was also present on an unfiltered CCD frame taken on July 28.09, but does not appear on Palomar Sky Survey images taken on 1992 June 29 (limiting mag about 21.3) and on 1986 Apr. 12 (limiting mag about 20.2).
