Marsden announced his retirement, effective the next day, as Director of the Central Bureau. His place was taken by the Daniel W.E.Green. Marsden had been in charge of the Bureau since Jan.1968. In recognition of his long service, he has been given the honorary title of Director Emeritus, and it is anticipated that he will still be actively involved in the Bureau's activities. He has also been elected President of Commission 6. Editor: We are sending messages to both Brian and Dan and I am sure the close cooperation which has existed for so many years between the Central Bureau and TAHQ will continue. SUPERNOVA 2000dd IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY A. B. Aazami and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search, report the discovery of an apparent supernova with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) on Aug.10.3 (mag about 17.5) and 11.3 UT (mag about 17.4). An earlier image taken on Aug. 3.3 also showed the new object at mag about 18.0. SN 2000dd is located at: R.A. = 20h35m00s.10, Decl. = -23o05'55".2 (2000), which is 1".6 north of the nucleus of the faint host galaxy, which in turn is 56" east and 22" north of MCG -4-48-19. IAUC 7477 (extract) SUPERNOVA 2000de IN NGC 4384 A. Dimai, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, reports the discovery by M.Migliardi, Tourtour, Haut-Provence, France, of an apparent supernova on CCD images taken on Aug. 10.9 and Aug. 11.9 UT (mag about 16) with his 0.2-m f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope + CCD Hi-Sis 33 in the course of the CROSS program. Confirmation was obtained on an image taken on Aug. 13.85 (limiting mag 18.5) with the Col Druscie' Observatory 0.5-m Ullrich telescope that showed the supernova at mag about 16. The new object is located at: R.A. = 12h25m12s.17, Decl. = +54o30'28".7 (2000), which is 1" east and 5" north of the nucleus of NGC 4384. IAUC 7478 (extract) SUPERNOVA 2000df IN CGCG 51-70 Michael Schwartz, Cottage Grove, OR, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.2) on unfiltered CCD frames (limiting mag about 18.5) taken on Aug. 17.204 and 18.194 UT, utilizing the Tenagra-I 0.35-m automated supernova patrol telescope. The new object is located at: R.A. = 16h14m12s.22, Decl. = +6o09'00".6 (2000), which is about 9".2 east and 2".6 south of the nucleus of CGCG 51-70.
