V402 ANDROMEDAE (Q2000/286)
Mike Simonsen, Lacomb, USA reported that on 2000 Sept. 18.166UT the
variable V402 And (formerly Var 62 And) and on the Recurrent
Objects List may have been glimpsed at 15.0 although his formal
estimate was [14.9 using the AAVSO sequence.

However on 2000 Sept 18.872, Tonny Vanmunster, Belgium, in response
to an appeal for confirmation by Gary Poyner, failed to record the
object using CCD imaging to a limit of 17.6.

On Sept 20.817UT, Martin Mobberley, Bury St.Edmunds, imaged the
field in a 2 minute exposure with the 0.49-m reflector + MX916
CCD and found an object at magnitude 15.7 which was not on the
Palomar Sky Survey.

Visual confirmation of the Sept 20 event was then forthcoming from
Gary Poyner, Birmingham (Sept 20.869UT, 15.4v, VSNET sequence) and
also from Chris Jones who made it 15.4v on Sept 20.951UT. Gary
Poyner adds that the last known outburst was on 1999 Oct 31.
