Modjaz and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley; and M. Schwartz, Cottage Grove, OR, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 18.9) by LOTOSS on an unfiltered image taken on Jan. 1.5 UT with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT). SN 2001A, confirmed on an image taken on 2000 Dec. 29.5 UT (mag about 18.8) and an image taken with the 0.5-m Tenagra III automatic telescope on Dec. 15.5 (mag about 18.4), is located at R.A. = 12h19m23s.01, Decl.=+5 49'40".5 (2000), which is 3".1 west and 10".7 north of the nucleus of NGC 4261. IAUC 7554 (extract) POSSIBLE NOVA IN PUPPIS S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the following precise position for this variable (cf E1596) by H. Abe (Yatsuka, 0.26-m f/6.0 reflector) from a CCD image taken on Jan. 1.525 UT: R.A. = 7h37m56s.91, Decl. = -25o56'59".7 (2000). G. Masi, Ceccano, Italy, reports the following position end figures from an image taken by M. Uemura (Kyoto University): 56s.91, 59".0. Masi notes the presence of a USNO-A2.0 catalogue star (red mag 13.2) at position end figures 56s.88, 59".1. T. Kato forwards position end figures obtained by K. Kadota (Ageo, Saitama, 0.18-m f/5.5 reflector) from an image taken on Jan. 1.654: 56s.88, 58".9. IAUC 7554 (extract) SUPERNOVA 2001B IN IC 391 D. W. Xu and Y. L. Qiu, on behalf of Beijing Astronomical Observatory supernova survey, report the discovery of a supernova found on unfiltered images taken on Jan. 3.61 (mag about 15.5) and 4.57 UT (mag about 15.2). SN 2001B is located at R.A. = 4h57m19s.24, Decl. = +78o11'16".5 (2000), which is 5".6 west and 8".9 south of the nucleus of IC 391. IAUC 7555 (extract) SUPERNOVA 2001C IN PGC 19975 T. Puckett, Mountain Town, GA; and and A. Sehgal, Woodinville, WA, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 14.7) on an unfiltered CCD frame (limiting mag 20.5) taken with the Puckett Observatory 0.60-m automated supernova patrol telescope on Jan. 4.09 UT. SN 2001C is located at R.A. = 6h59m36s.10, Decl. = +59o31'01".6 (2000), which is 14".7 east and 5".7 south of the centre of PGC 19975.
