Y. Dong, Y. L. Qiu, and J. Y. Hu, on behalf of the Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO) Supernova Survey, of the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.4) on an unfiltered CCD image taken with the BAO 0.6-m telescope on Mar. 11.8 UT. SN 2001ad is located at R.A. = 17h24m02s.45, Decl. = +58 59'52".2 (2000), which is 43".2 west and 10".3 north of the nucleus of NGC 6373. SN 2001ad was confirmed at mag 18.4 on an unfiltered KAIT image taken on Mar. 13.5, from which Li measured the position end figures to be 02s.40, 52".0, which is 44".3 west and 9".6 north of the galaxy nucleus. IAUC 7596 (extract) SUPERNOVA 2001ae IN IC 4229 A. Friedman and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of LOTOSS, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.3) on unfiltered images taken on Mar. 15.5 and 16.3 UT with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT). SN 2001ae is located at R.A. = 13h22m26s.16, Decl. = -2 25'25".0 (2000), which is 1".0 east and 18".3 south of the nucleus of IC 4229. The new object was also confirmed on an unfiltered CCD image taken by M. Schwartz on Mar. 16.4 with the Tenagra Observatory 0.5-m automatic telescope. IAUC 7597 (extract) SUPERNOVA 2001af IN MCG -04-24-1 M. Modjaz and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of LOTOSS (cf. IAUC 7514), report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 16.8) on unfiltered CCD images taken on Mar. 18.3 and 19.3 UT with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT). SN 2001af is located at R.A. = 9h50m28s.70, Decl. = -21o48'30".7 (2000), which is 13".6 east and 22".7 south of the nucleus of MCG -04-24-1. An unfiltered KAIT image of the same field on Mar. 17.3 already showed a hint of the new object, while an image on Mar. 1.3 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 18.5). IAUC 7598 SUPERNOVA 2001aa R. Chornock, A. V. Filippenko, and M. Modjaz, University of California at Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum SN 2001aa (cf E1615 editor) shows it is of type II, with a spectrum (range 550-1000 nm).
