The approximate location of the star is: R.A. = 13h 55.5m, Dec. = -64d 16' (equinox 2000). Nothing brighter than 11.0 appears at this location on photographs taken on Sep. 19.000. Albert Jones, New Zealand confirms that he has seen the object visually in bright moonlight on 2001 October 2 at 08h00m and estimates it at magnitude 9.2 by reference to comparison star values from Tycho 2. Andrew Pearce, Western Australia also e-mails to confirm the presence of the new object seen on October 2.542UT at magnitude 9.3 (comparisons Tycho Johnson V). He estimates the position as: RA 13h 55.6m Dec -64 16' (J2000). Berto Monard in Zambia noted it at magnitude 9.5 on Oct 2.708UT. SUPERNOVA 2001em IN UGC 11794 M. Papenkova and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, report the discovery by LOTOSS of an apparent supernova (mag about 18.6) in unfiltered images taken with the Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) on Sept. 20.3 and 21.3 UT. SN 2001em is located at R.A. = 21h42m23s.66, Decl. = +12o29'50".9 (2000), which is 11".1 east and 3".5 south of the nucleus of UGC 11794. An unfiltered image taken with the 0.8-m Tenagra II telescope by J. Wray, C. W. Chleborad, and M.Schwartz on Sept. 15.3 already showed a hint of the new object. KAIT images taken on Sept. 5.3 (limiting mag about 19.5) and 10.3 (limiting mag about 18.5) showed nothing at this positon. IAUC 7722 SUPERNOVA 2001en IN NGC 523 D. Hutchings and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, report the discovery by LOTOSS of an apparent supernova in unfiltered images taken with the Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) on Sept. 26.5 (mag about 17.5) and 27.3 UT (mag about 17.0). SN 2001en is located at R.A. = 1h25m22s.90, Decl. = +34o01'30".5 (2000), which is 6".4 east and 2".8 south of the eastern nucleus of NGC 523. An unfiltered KAIT image taken on Sept. 20.4 showed nothing at this positon (limiting mag about 19.5). IAUC 7724 Guy M Hurst
