G. W. Manning at Stakenbridge. Nick James (b. 1962) is a leading CCD imager and photometrist who has produced large numbers of precision light curves of cataclysmic variables and images of unusual variable stars and comets. He is currently papers secretary of the British Astronomical Association and assistant editor of The Astronomer. A list containing the above object appeared in an article relating to the discoverer, Brian Manning, in The Astronomer Vol 33 No 393 p202-204 [1996 December]. This was on the occasion of Brian being the recipient of a Hon.Doctor of Science Degree at Birmingham University. 1995 YP2 was object 24 of the 25 listed in the article and its orbit was then based on a 100-day arc (MPC 27123). Our congratulations to Nick on this well deserved recognition and to Brian Manning for proposing such an appropriate naming. In the usual tradition of TA, perhaps someone would like to now obtain a photograph of the object following the assignment of its name? Guy M Hurst
