Itoh, Tokyo, Japan has reported via VSNET that the ultra short- period cataclysmic variable HT Cam is undergoing a bright outburst: 2001 Dec 29.680UT, 12.2; 29.710, 12.3; 29.833, 12.2. J.Kemp, CBA, Hilo, reports recording it at 16.8V on Dec 28 (10.15UT) and 13.1V on Dec 30 (03.45UT). According to a report by Arne Henden and Bruce Sumner, the object is located at: RA 07h 57m 01.36s DEC +63 06' 02.3" (2000). Its former designation was RX J0757.0+6306. The 75th Name list, issued via the IBVS, provides the new designation, HT Cam. The 'normal' magnitude, however, is given as 17.2 with an amplitude of 1.4 (B) and type XM. It is therefore clear the present outburst is much brighter than the catalogued range. We would very much welcome both estimates and an image so that a reliable chart can be added to the TA collection. Guy M Hurst
