Patrick advises that the last recorded outburst was detected by him on 1992 Apr.20.928UT at mv= 12.0 (IAUC 5502). The mean cycle length of HV Vir is therefore presumed to be 10.4 years. The previous outburst of this object, which was formerly Nova Vir 1929, was also reported in The Astronomer E-Circulars 629 (1992 Apr 21)and 630 (1992 Apr 22). A note and charts were also issued on Observers Bulletin 84 (1992 Apr 23).
