The object was recorded with 0.10-m f4 twin patrol cameras using T=Max 400 film. On 2002 Jan 24.838, it was estimated at about magnitude 9.0 whereas on Jan 11.426, it was not recorded and fainter than 13.1. Haseda has derived a semi-precise position of: RA 17h 37m 34.5s DEC -16 23' 22" (2000) Andrew Pearce, Nedlands, Western Australia, reports that he observed the object visually on Jan 26.857UT at magnitude 9.1 using his 0.20-m telescope and based on Tycho VT magnitudes.
