It was first recorded on March 11.73UT at magnitude 15.5 with the BAO 0.6-m telescope and again on 23.73UT when the object had brightened to magnitude 14.1. It is located at: RA 13h 18m 30.30s DEC -14 36' 31.8" (2000) which is at the centre of this galaxy. SUPERNOVA 2002bt IN UGC 8584 The LOTOSS team have reported the discovery of a supernova in UGC 8584. According to IAUC 7862, it was first detected on an exposure of 2002 March 25.4UT using the 0.8-m KAIT telescope when its estimated magnitude was 17.9. The supernova is located at: RA 13h 36m 13.20s DEC -01 02' 19.8" (2000), placing it 13.2"W and 1.9"S of the nucleus. Guy M Hurst
