The first detection by KAIT was on April 28.2UT when the object was about magnitude 17.9. It is located at: RA 09h 59m 35.95s DEC +35 23' 57.4" (2000), 64.1"W and 23.2"N of the centre of NGC 3074. UV PERSEI Robert J. Modic, USA has reported the following magnitudes of this star (cf TA E-Circular 1769): 2002 May 4.081, 12.9; 5.095, 14.1 using a 0.40-m f/4 Newtonian. Although this may suggest it is fading rapidly, the star has been known to produce a double peak and should be monitored carefully over the next week or so. SUPERNOVA 2002cq IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY A magnitude 19.2 supernova has been reported on IAUC 7888 by W. M. Wood-Vasey et. al. of Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. It was recorded on Apr. 20.3UT with the 1.2-m Schmidt telescope at Palomar. The location is: RA 12h 38m 40.43s DEC -02 58' 13.4" (2000), 15"S and 10"W of an anonymous galaxy. SUPERNOVA 2002cr IN NGC 5468 Reiki Kushida at Yatsugatake South Base Observatory, Japan has recorded a possible supernova on May 1.701UT at magnitude 16.5 using a 0.4-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. It is in NGC 5468 and located at: RA 14h 06m 37.59s DEC -05 26' 21.9" (2000). The offsets from the nucleus are: 41"E and 50"N. Berto Monard, Pretoria, South Africa reports a CCD image was obtained from Bronberg observatory with a 0.30-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope on May 6.704UT when the object was noted at magnitude 14.8 (unfiltered image).
