H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University subsequently measured the position from an image by Sanders of May 13 as: RA 20h 32m 07.30s DEC -57 35' 03.4" (2000). According to a report by M. Turatto et. al., a spectrum of June 16 obtained with the VLT + FORS 2 at ESO indicated it to be a type I-a about 50 days past maximum. SUPERNOVA 2002dn IN IC 5145 A LOTOSS discovery of a supernova of magnitude 18.6 on KAIT images of June 15.5 has been reported on IAUC 7922. The position is: RA 21h 54m 22.47s DEC +15 09' 42.2" (2000) placing the object 8.8"W and 18.3"N of the centre of IC 5145. Alex Filippenko reports on the same IAUC that a June 17 spectrum obtained with the Shane 3-m reflector suggests it is probably of type Ic. SUPERNOVA 2002do IN MCG +07-41-1 A further LOTOSS discovery of a possible supernova, detailed on IAUC 7923, indicates a magnitude 16.3 object was detected on June 17.4 with KAIT and the position is: RA 19h 56m 12.88s DEC +40 26' 10.8" (2000) which places the object 8.2"N of the centre of MCG +07-41-1.
