First detection by KAIT was on July 22.4UT at magnitude 18.5. The position is: RA 22h 19m 05.24s DEC +24 35' 39.8" (2000), 14.9"W and 13.7"S of the galaxy's centre. SUPERNOVA 2002ec IN NGC 5910 A further LOTOSS report also appeared in IAUC 7937, this time relating to a possible supernova in NGC 5910. The first KAIT image was on July 23.2 when the object was estimated to be of magnitude 17.7. The position is: RA 15h 19m 24.89s DEC +20 53' 14.0" (2000) with resulting offsets 8.5"E and 12.9"S of the SW nucleus component. SUPERNOVA 2002ed In NGC 5468 Berto Monard, Pretoria, South Africa has reported the discovery of a possible supernova in NGC 5468 on unfiltered CCD images with a ST-7E and 0.30-m LX200 f/4.2 telescope at Bronberg Observatory. The first detection was on an image of July 27.765UT when the magnitude was 16.6. Follow-up observations and magnitudes: July 28.702UT, 16.5; 29.696, 16.5. The position of the new object is: RA 14h 06m 38.2s DEC -05 27' 29" (2000) with offsets of 55"E and 15"S of the galaxy's nucleus. SUPERNOVA 2002ap In M74 This important object has been through conjunction with the Sun and thus unobservable in recent months. However we understand that Konkoly Observatory obtained a positive image of the object on July 27 at V=17.1. Could we ask that CCD observers attempt the object and send any resulting images to the editor? Guy M Hurst
