Speakers and talks so far confirmed include: 'The eye as an astronomical instrument: can we make magnitude estimates even better?' Dr. Nye Evans, Keele University "The light curve of Comet Ikeya-Zhang and the comet of Hevelius". Dr. Mark Kidger, Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias "20 years is a long time in Astrometry" Peter Birtwhistle "The AAVSO and high energy astrophysics in Hawaii" Hazel McGee Further speakers will be announced shortly. Given the hall capacity, we urge everyone to book in advance and as early as possible. For those bookings received by the September 15, the admission will be held at £6.00 per person and thereafter the charge will be £7.50. As in previous years, Anne and Heather have kindly agreed to provide the traditional three-course luncheon for which the charge remains at £7.00 per person. We will again mount an exhibition. For those unable to attend and especially subscribers living abroad, please send preliminary details of your proposed exhibit to the editor. A booking form is included in the August issue of 'The Astronomer' which was despatched yesterday.
