The latest object, of magnitude 18.3, was first recorded in UGC 12289 by KAIT on 2002 August 18.3UT. The position is: RA 22h 59m 40.82s DEC +24 04' 17.5" (2000). Offsets from the galaxy's centre are: 9.9"W and 12.2"S. SUPERNOVA 2002eo IN NGC 710 A further LOTOSS discovery, this time in NGC 710, has been reported on IAUC 7958. The apparent supernova is of magnitude approx 18 and first detection was on 2002 August 20.5UT. The location is: RA 01h 52m 55.18s DEC +36 03' 22.2" (2000), 13.9"E and 8.8"N of the galaxy's nucleus. Mark Armstrong, Rolvenden, England has subsequently e-mailed TA to report that he independently detected this object on an unfiltered CCD image of 2002 August 23.089UT using the 0.30-m telescope during the course of the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol. His astrometry had end figures of: RA 55.19s DEC 22.0". He adds that there may be a trace of the object on an image of Aug 18.023UT with the 0.35-m telescope but at the limit of detection. However it is not recorded on a patrol image of Aug 14.077UT with a limiting magnitude 19.5. Congratulations to Mark on this independent detection. Guy M Hurst
