Tabur, Australian Capital Territory, has reported his discovery of an apparent nova (red mag 9.7) in Sagittarius on unfiltered CCD images taken with a 100-mm telephoto lens on Oct. 25.44 and 25.48UT according to IAUC 8001. A CCD image taken by Tabur with a 0.28-m reflector gives the following position: RA = 17h 47m 21.74s DEC -23o 28' 23.1" (2000). Liller, (Chile) gives end figures: 21s.63, 21".4. Tabur comments that there is no star on the Palomar Sky Survey of 1987 and 1991 in this position. SUPERNOVAE 2002gf, 2002gg and 2002gh W. M. Wood-Vasey et.al., have reported on IAUC 7990 their discovery of three supernovae in anonymous galaxies on Palomar NEAT images. SN 2002gf was found on Sept 27 at: RA 20h 55m 17.88s DEC -00 04' 21.4" (2000) mag 19.4 9"W, 3"N SN 2002gg was found on Oct 5 at: RA 22h 27m 45.93s DEC _06 55' 44.7" (2000) mag 20.0 6"SE SN 2002gh was found on Oct 5 at: RA 03h 05m 29.46s DEC -05 21' 57.0" (2000) mag 19.3 8.7"E, 6"N SUPERNOVAE 2002gi, 2002gj, 2002gk, 2002gl, 2002gm Astronomers involved with the Supernova Cosmology Project have reported the discovery of five supernovae, all fainter than magnitude 20, on Cerro Tololo 4-m telescope images of 2002 May 7 and May 8. Further details have appeared on IAUC 7993. SUPERNOVAE 2002gn, go, gp, gq, gr, gs, gt, gu, 2002gv Astronomers at University of Washington have reported detection of nine supernovae via the Sloan Digital Sky Survey on Oct 10 using the SDSS 2.5-m telescope at Apache Point. All are in anonymous galaxies and the supernovae at mag r=19.8 or fainter according to IAUC 7994. SUPERNOVA 2002gw IN NGC 922 Takao Doi (USA) and L. A. G. Monard (South Africa) have independently found a possible supernova in NGC 922 at: RA 02h 25m 02.97s DEC -24 47' 50.6" (2000), 21"W and 33"S of the nucleus of NGC 922. Doi's first image was Oct 13.27UT at mag 17.3 (0.30-m telescope + CCD no filter). Monard first recorded it on Oct 16.03UT at 17.6 using similar equipment according to IAUC 7995. SUPERNOVA 2002gx IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY W. M. Wood-Vasey et.al., have reported on IAUC 7995 the discovery of a possible supernova of mag 19 on NEAT images of 2002 October 13 with the Palomar 1.2-m Schmidt at: RA 02h 31m 44.69s DEC +40 16' 39.5" (2000), 6"E and 7"S of the nucleus.
