The magnitude 18 object was initially recorded on 2003 Jan 23.916UT on unfiltered CCD images taken with a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope during the course of the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol. It proved possible to confirm the object's presence about 8 hours later on the same night at Jan 24.250UT. The position is: RA 08h 01m 15.63s DEC +55 44' 34.8" (2000), 3.5"E and 3.5"N of the galaxy's centre. Tom noted the absence of the object on his images of 2002 April 8 and Nov 3 to a limit of about magnitude 19.0 and 19.5 respectively. Further it was not found on the Palomar Sky Survey II red plates (1995.154), blue plates (1998.225) or Quick V Northern (1984.023). He was able to obtain a further confirmatory image on Jan 25.758UT. The designation, Supernova 2003P was subsequently announced on IAUC 8057 and we again offer our congratulations to Tom on this further success. SUPERNOVA 2003N IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY This designation has been given to an object in the Hubble Deep Field recorded on 2003 Jan 2.83UT at about magnitude 25. SUPERNOVA 2003O IN UGC 2798 According to IAUC 8055, Doug Rich of USA has reported detection of a possible supernova of magnitude 17.0 in UGC 2798 on a CCD image of Jan 18.96UT using a 0.26-m telescope. The position is: RA 03h 38m 09.13s DEC +40 58' 38.0" (2000)which places it 9.8"W and 21.0"S of the galaxy's centre. Guy M Hurst
